Support
Students develop an understanding of the components of a healthy and balanced diet.
The students will be shown and be able to develop their own skills for preparing and cooking meals and dishes including:
- preparing and chopping vegetables
- making sauces from scratch
- making meal like curry, pizza, and homemade bread and pasta dishes.
Nurture
Through an open approach to their learning, students are encouraged to make informed choices about healthy eating and which dishes they would like to make. This will enhance their ability to make healthy choices as young adults making their own meals at home.
Students will develop their understanding of personal hygiene when in the kitchen along with knowing how to be safe when using sharp utensils and hot items.
Inspire
Students will be made aware of opportunities for further study in catering and customer service and gain an understanding of post 16 pathways and career choices.
Students will be introduced to new cuisines and cultures from around the world, and given an understanding of where different foods comes from.
Empower
We aim to develop confidence in our students to be able to make decisions about what are good flavours and textures to combine together. Students have the opportunity to develop their own personal diets as well as achieving qualifications that allow access to further education.
