On Track Education Silverstone has opened the doors to a new learning facility with five new classrooms, following a rapid summer development project that transformed part of its rural Northamptonshire site.
The independent special school, which relocated from Silsoe, Bedfordshire, to its current Silverstone base in 2019, offers a calm, countryside environment for up to 40 students with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. Surrounded by farmland, the school provides a nurturing and highly personalised learning experience.
The latest development was completed in just eight weeks during the summer holidays by specialist contractors, in time to welcome students back in September 2025. The five classrooms are self-contained and designed specifically for Year 7 and Year 8 pupils, ensuring they have a dedicated, quiet space to learn and grow.
The new facilities also include a THRIVE wellbeing room, supporting the school’s focus on emotional development and resilience, as well as an indoor sports area. Until now, pupils have relied solely on outdoor provision for PE and exercise, which proved challenging during the colder winter months.
The project replaces a former vocational area that no longer meets the needs of the current students. The transformation has created an inspiring and flexible learning environment that staff and pupils alike are already embracing.
Headteacher, Mandy Hayward-Flint, said:

After
“The new space is something both staff and students have looked forward to, and it is a big step forward for our school. It offers new pupils the ideal environment to make a positive start at Silverstone, while also addressing the needs of our existing Year 7 and 8 children.
“The change has been remarkable. What was once an underused area has become a hub of activity and well-being. We’re excited to see the difference it will make for our children now and in the years ahead.”
With the additional classrooms, On Track Silverstone strengthens its commitment to offering a safe, creative, and supportive setting for pupils who have faced challenges in mainstream education.
The expansion underlines the school’s ongoing growth since its move to Northamptonshire and reflects its ethos of ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive.
