On Track Education West Yarner is an independent special school for pupils aged 7–16, offering 40 places across two sites in Dartington and Seale Hayne. We provide small group and individualised learning tailored to pupils with a range of special educational needs, with a strong focus on social, emotional and communication development. Our motivational and progressive curriculum is underpinned by the therapeutic principles of THRIVE®, supporting each pupil’s personal growth and resilience. 

Due to expansion we are looking for an additional Education Support Worker. This role will predominately be based at the Seale Hayne site in Newton Abbot but you may also be required to work at West Yarner and on outreach therefore must be able to drive and have access to your own vehicle.

The role

This is a rewarding role focused on providing personalised support to help young people re-engage with learning, build confidence, and achieve their potential. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing tailored support and supervision for pupils aged 7–16, encouraging active engagement in learning and helping them work towards agreed goals and objectives
  • Planning and delivering elements of learning or intervention programmes that support pupils’ individual progress
  • Working both 1:1 and in small groups as part of a collaborative, professional team, supporting the academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development of each young person
  • Leading intervention sessions on a 1:1 basis, delivered both on-site and off-site, to address specific pupil needs and support their re-engagement with education

About you

We’re looking for someone who is empathetic, resilient, and committed to making a positive difference in the lives of young people with additional needs. Ideally, you will have:

  • Experience working with children or young people and a genuine passion for supporting their development
  • A motivation to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential
    Confidence in managing behaviour positively and calmly, even in challenging situations
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and in person with pupils, colleagues, and families
  • A good general level of education, including GCSE Grade 4 (or equivalent) in English and Maths, and IT proficiency
  • The role involves transporting pupils, so you’ll need a full driving licence and 
    access to your own vehicle, insured for business use

About our school:

Independent special school for pupils aged 7-16 who benefit from small group and individualised learning.
West Yarner is situated on the outskirts of Dartington and is a base predominately for our primary age children (KS1/KS2). Seale Hayne Business Centre is our school site for our secondary age children.
All children have individualised timetables with a range of enrichment activities, which are lined to their personalised targets within their EHCPs.
There is a focus on social and emotional development and a motivational and progressive curriculum underpinned by the therapeutic principles of THRIVE®
We require a Deputy Head for the West Yarner site so you will be based here, however, you must be able to drive and have your own car due to offsite visits.

We are looking for a dedicated and engaging Teacher who can deliver high-quality teaching and support across a broad curriculum. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring pupils build knowledge and skills that lead to meaningful progress
  • Planning and delivering an inspiring, high-quality curriculum that supports pupils to enjoy learning, achieve well, and move confidently towards clearly defined end points
  • Teaching clear, structured lessons that embed key concepts in pupils’ long-term memory and support outstanding progress
  • Setting personalised learning targets for each pupil, considering prior attainment, individual needs, and their broader developmental goals
  • Working collaboratively with the Head Teacher and leadership team to deliver a curriculum that builds knowledge systematically and meets the needs of all pupils
  • Regularly assessing and monitoring pupil understanding, using assessment outcomes to inform teaching and guide timely, targeted interventions
  • Planning with a clear focus on the SEN for each pupil, creating inclusive and accessible learning experiences that support both academic and personal development

About you

  • Hold a recognised teaching qualification (QTS, QTLS, PGCE preferred) with proven teaching experience

The role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative Forest School Lead to join our team at On Track West Yarner, covering a period of maternity leave. Based both at our West Yarner site and our dedicated forest school site, you will have the chance to inspire and engage young people through hands-on outdoor learning. As Forest School Lead, you will:

•    Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality Forest School sessions that motivate and engage pupils
•    Work closely with teaching staff and the Senior Leadership Team to align les-sons with wider curriculum goals
•    Set clear, achievable targets for pupils’ learning and personal progress, recog-nising and adapting to each pupil’s individual needs
•    Plan and deliver inclusive learning experiences that meet the special educa-tional needs of pupils
•    Assess pupil progress, providing regular, constructive feedback in line with school policy
•    Create a safe, supportive and inspiring outdoor learning environment where every pupil can thrive

About you

We’re looking for a passionate and committed individual who believes in the power of outdoor education to change lives. Ideally, you will bring:

•    A recognised teaching qualification or considerable educational experience
•    A Level 3 Forest School qualification and proven experience leading Forest School sessions
•    Experience of working with young people in an SEN environment
•    The ability to deliver sessions that are engaging, practical and inspiring
•    A positive approach to behaviour management and a commitment to helping young people succeed

The role

As English Lead Teacher, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering an engaging, inclusive English curriculum that meets the diverse needs of our learners. You will inspire a love of language, literature and communication, ensuring every pupil can make progress, build confidence, and achieve success. 

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Leading the planning, delivery and ongoing development of the school’s English curriculum, ensuring it is adaptive, creative and responsive to the pupils’ needs.
  • Supporting and coaching colleagues to implement high-quality, individualised approaches to teaching English, embedding consistency and best practice across the school.
  • Developing curriculum plans that identify clear targets, success criteria and assessment methods, aligned to each pupil’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
  • Teaching English to small groups and individuals, ensuring lessons are accessible, motivating and designed to build literacy, communication and emotional engagement.
  • Working collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure that social, emotional and academic needs are supported holistically through the curriculum.
  • Monitoring and evaluating pupil progress in English, implementing targeted interventions where required to support continued improvement.

About You

As our English Lead Teacher, you will:

  • Demonstrate experience or a strong understanding of working within SEN, SEMH or specialist education settings, adapting your approach to meet individual needs.
